Yesterday, I received the devastating news that a dear friend of mine had stepped out of this life. I was numb for hours. She was one of the kindest, most caring souls I’ve ever known, a gentle, animal loving spirit who moved through this world with tenderness. But maybe this world was simply too harsh, too cruel for someone like her.

I couldn’t bring myself to create in the studio today. Instead, I found myself slowly rearranging some shelves. That’s when I came across a red resin heart I had picked up many moons ago, forgotten until now. I knew immediately: I had to make something for her. A piece in her honour.

This is what came together:

Three lava stones: for the weight of loss, for the silence that burns.
A red resin heart: for my love for her.
A golden drop: a tear held in light.
A black crystal: for depth, for the echo of absence.
A Hematite cross: a still crossroad between life and death.

I’m taking a few days to reflect, to grieve.

I’ll be walking in the woods, staring at the sky, listening for what can’t be said.

Back soon.
